my advantage lies in that ı am not watching the episodes but remember things from a distance though if the name or number was to be given ı could possibly find it on some place like wookiwhatever and work out some explanation .

and , yeah , nobody would actually believe me if ı was like real . No , no queens on the web to find .

  3. BOBA FETT PERFORMER JEREMY BULLOCH PASSES AWAY

    From the StarWars.com article:
Boba Fett — the enigmatic bounty hunter introduced to movie audiences in 1980's Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back — has become both an icon and cinematic legend over the past 40 years, with a legacy that has stoked wonder and speculation among generations of fans.

Jeremy Bulloch, who physically performed the character of Boba Fett in both The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, has sadly passed away. He was 75.

Losing Mayhew last year, and now Prowse & Bulloch this year, is such a tragic loss. These actors that played three of the most recognized characters, not only in Star Wars, but in all cinema, will be sorely missed. R.I.P.

  4. Our watch party has wound down, but I have to say this was hands down the most excited any of us have been in awhile. Chapter 16 of The Mandalorian was incredible! We were all a bit nervous with Peyton Reed directing, but after everyone was holding their collective breath, there were deafening cheers when this character was revealed:

And, then there was quite a few tears during the next 10 minutes.

Also, make sure and watch through all the way to the end - there's an additional scene setting up a new series(?) debuting next year. Or, it could just be the next "book" of The Mandalorian.

All in all, Grogu approves!

so , indeed it is a "My name is Groot" thing ? Does he(?) speak yet ?

poster has no access to Mandalorian

  6. Great episode!
I was 100% expecting a Jedi to show up, otherwise the episode with the magical stone wouldn't have made much sense (to have been a part of the story). Plus the dark troopers (or whatever they are) being there sort of implied somebody badarse was going to show up to help out. It was all set up for a Jedi to arrive, that seemed obvious from the start.

I had no idea who to expect but I suspected it could have been Obi Wan, since he's getting his own show. Ahsoka didn't seem likely either, and there's tons of Jedi I probably don't know about since I don't dive into much of the lore. So I was thinking "Maybe Obi Wan, but let's see who this is".. And.. Yeah, I totally did not expect to see Luke.

They did a bad job making him look real though, that's my only significant complaint. It looked a lot worse than all the other deepfakes they've done with Leia, Tarkin, etc. Not their fault if the tech isn't quite there yet, but it took a bit away from the episode for me. It wasn't only the way his face looked, but also his mannerisms. My brain kept screaming at me: "He's not real!". With the way Leia and Tarkin were done it seemed a lot closer to the real thing.

Boba Fett not being there was also too convenient for me. I was trying to remember why he just took off instead of sticking around, but not being there so that they can introduce Luke makes sense..

The whole thing with "I can't take this sword unless I've beaten the former owner in battle" thing was a bit silly as well, IMO. Not a big deal, but if this was the case, why didn't she tell Mando about this ahead of time? Duh

A great episode overall, although my fav of the season remains the one where Boba shows up and kicks butt

How on earth could you expect Obi-Wan? Dude's been dead for years.
  8. Oh right, lol. I'm glad I actually messed that all up in my head somehow, otherwise I would have probably been able to guess who was going to show up.

Not that I need an excuse, but I was up the whole night tossing and turning and don't feel very good today. Watched the episode drinking my morning coffee, moaning and groaning..

Been watching the clone wars lately a bunch too.. and somehow thought in the back of my head during the latest Mando episode that this is all happening while Obi Wan is guarding over Luke on Tatooine. Which obviously makes no sense in retrospect, but my mind somehow confused the gap in between episodes 3 - 4 with the gap in between episodes 6 and 7

edit: Ah yes, now that I'm rewatching the episode I see that my issue with the certain item being handed off is addressed in the dialogue near the beginning of the episode. "Duh" retracted. I wonder what else I missed

  9. "Great, one X-wing, we're saved." - Carla Dune :shifty:

    Clenched fist, black glove?

    It can't be...it is!!! Woah!

Now that's a grand re-entrance of a Jedi G.O.A.T, been waiting decades for that. Finally..hell yeah!

Episode was produced like a mini-SW movie, incredible.

His highness Bobba looking all majestic on the underground throne.

    No end credit art-work though!

So many interesting creative possibilities after this episode.

    A scene to rival -

I thought the season finale was very disappointing, and I expected better after all the breadcrumbing. They went with the most boring options available and took the most linear path to a resolution.
And going with CGI de-aging for Luke was pants-on-backward ridiculous. Just get a lookalike. Pay an unknown pennies, or just hire Sebastian Shaw. None of this, frankly, awfully done CGI stuff.

    Oh, and...

I have zero interest in Tatooine Hutt Replacement Fett. I have zero interest in Fett in general, but specifically negative interest in that. If season three is that, the show is outright ruined. They sipped on the sizzurp of fan service and now we're going to pay for it.
  11. I rewatched the whole episode and Luke looked more real than before. But still pretty fake. When he was speaking it was like the voice was not coming from his mouth, but from somewhere else. It was a bit jarring. In 10 years people are going to be looking back at this and laughing at how bad it looks, given how much more advanced this tech is going to be. I agree that surely a lookalike actor would have looked better if he were modified. Haven't we seen much better looking deepfakes? I don't get it. Maybe their budget for this was $500.

I agree the story was expected, but if you're a dumb fan like me you'll be surprised by some stuff along the way anyway

I wanted to follow the story of Mando for next season, so hopefully this Boba thing isn't just S3 of this show

  12. The Book of Boba Fett , a new Original Series, starring Temuera Morrison and Ming-Na Wen and executive produced by Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni and Robert Rodriguez, set within the timeline of The Mandalorian, is coming to Disney+ December 2021.

I guess this answers the question of whether it will be a new show or Mando S03.

  13. New Luke deepfake just dropped this morning. Maybe I'm not looking at it right, but these deepfakes look better than what Disney is giving us.
  14. Yep, the fan made one looks better. How?? Maybe the original one was a rush job somehow. Lack of planning? Last minute change of plans? The guy working on it's boss slept with his wife? They are cheap and left this to interns? The fan making this is an expert in the field?

It does look more expressive, like it's got depth, whereas the original looks a bit flat. My biggest problem was when Luke spoke, the voice and the head movements didn't seem to really go hand in hand very well. This new one looks more alive so I'm getting less of that vibe when he speaks.

  15. I dont know if it's the same person or team that made wonky eyed Tarkin.
But the department who's handling the SW CGI faces are being outshined by youtubers.
Someone should get them to raise thier game.

    Especially for this -

''There are talks being held on if Mark Hamill should return with the de-ageing technology, but right now, the studio is leaning towards a recast due to the expense and current imperfections of the technology.''

Nah, for whatever reasons the people Disney have hired are eithier not skilled enough or just doing a lazy job, we have evidence with the SW deep-fake comparison videos.

The talks about if Hamill should return is proably about contract negotiations (money).

Well anyway, a Luke Skywalker series......maybe that's where we will see Baby Yoda next.

Recast, please. A full series of this CGI nonsense would be hot garbage.
  17. Sebastian Stan has been mentioned a lot.
  18. I hope we don't find out that this wasn't really Luke but some sort of a hologram. That would be stupid.

I mean, that's probably not the case, but it seems like average joes doing a better job with the deepfake implies that there is a problem somewhere

  19. So we watched Chapter 16 again last night (fourth time), so now I've seen that single episode more than TLJ & TROS combined. Which brings me to something I noticed Luke said that seems to throw some shade towards the Rey character. :mischief:

Heck no. I'm 100% against recasting any main SW character. I'd rather walk through the Uncanny Valley where I know it's at least a close semblance of the original actor's face as opposed to trying to pretend that a completely different actor is the character. While he did a half-passable job, Alden Ehrenreich, could not replace Ford's charismatic Solo. I don't see anyone replicating Hamill's Skywalker either.

Even though, he didn't do any of the acting, Hamill at least voiced Luke and was present on set. It'll be interesting to see if the upcoming Disney Gallery episode will touch on what specifically went into bringing Luke back to the screen. Considering the advances The Mandalorian did with respect to CG environments using the new StageCraft (i.e. The Volume) system, I am hopeful that future advances and cost reductions in de-aging/CG facial technologies will improve the final results.
    ───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

This rumor has been floating around for quite some time, but it's mostly just been wish-casting with no credible evidence that he's being considered. People point to that comparison photo, but it's been heavily modified/photoshopped to give the "appearance" that the two actors look similar, when in actuality they only have a slight resemblance imo.

If you rewatched it so many times, surely you noticed that "Luke" simply stood there like a statue and uttered a few wooden lines before the mercy of not needing to show his face any longer? An entire series of that is simply not going to work, and I can't believe anyone would prefer that over a lookalike.
